Potential Scenario Ideas : nuclear fusion for electric power generation?

It occurred to me that students thinking about climate change might want to take a look at electric power generation via nuclear fusion. I know very little about this area, but perhaps someone out there does? I think students would be interested in just about any of the proposed technologies: tokamak, inertial confinement, etc.  Would it be possible to write a highly simplified set of ODEs, perhaps involving temperature, volume, pressure, mass, power input, power output?

Sorry I don't have any actual details, it's just the seed of an idea.
