Matthew Donahue, of The University of Tulsa, gave a talk, "Tulsa's Next Top Model," at the 30 March 2019, Spring MAA Oklahoma-Arkansas Section Meeting about hosting the forthcoming SCUDEM IV 2019 event on 9 November 2019 at his school.
Several faculty asked about how the training process would go for host coordinator faculty and this information will be in the Local Site Host Coordinator Group for all those who sign up to host SCUDEM IV 2019 at their school.
One professor asked about the possibility of having students compete in the Math Bowl, but not the modeling competition. We would suggest that one way to engage more students is to have them participate in the MathBowl, even if they are not in the SCUDEM modeling event itself. Moreover, they should be encouraged to attend the student presentations so they will see the fun of modeling with differential equations and want to fully engage next year.
