Abstract
We offer reasons and background for the work offered in SIMIODE. We support the notion that students learn mathematics best when it is in context and there is interest and curiosity present. We present details on a community of teachers and learners in SIMIODE who are interested in teaching and learning differential equations through modeling of realistic situations. Finally, we have given four examples of Modeling Scenario material available at SIMIODE.
